FYI: As one who is on the market, and filling out a bunch of apps, i found something out about fake job leads ;
- There are paid-education companies submitting fake job ads for real companies that direct you to a hiring form. On this hiring form, it asks a button binary "are you interested in furthering your education"
And if you select YES (its YES|NO) <-- You will immediately start getting robo-calls for education assistance. Most people will not select "No, I refuse to learn" <-- Gotcha.
So there are many companies masquerading as a job posting, but are harvesting remote-education-interests....
The psych-point being that with a pointed question "Have you done XYZ, if not, are you willing to seek education in XYZ?" and then they start robo-calling you...
(I doubt this happens on HN, I am saying that others on HN - if you are applying to jobs, there are a bunch of fakes... and this is a common current one.)
