PBS NewsHour | Software Engineer (backend) | Washington, DC | Onsite or Remote | Full Time The PBS NewsHour is on a mission to bring balanced, in-depth news coverage to all. Innovative and fast-paced, life at the NewsHour is focused on collaboration, trust, and above all, enterprising important, considered news. As our Software Engineer you will work with the NewsHour Digital Team to design, build, deploy and test PBS NewsHour products, services and infrastructure. You will also help support and maintain the NewsHour’s cloud infrastructure on AWS. This position will support our current content management system as well as help us to plan the direction of our future CMS. Strong skills in PHP and/or Python as well as relational databases are required for this position. Prior experience with Django and with high traffic web sites/APIs is desirable.
