Founded in 1857 and today one of the fastest-growing media platforms in the industry, The Atlantic has throughout its history championed the power of big ideas and continues to shape global debate. We work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment out of our office in the historic Watergate complex in Washington DC.
# Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with designers and developers to craft innovative reading experiences
- Collaborate with our front end lead to improve and implement our new Atlantic style guide and CSS framework
- Communicate and collaborate with both technical or non-technical members of the team
- Contribute to our existing CSS, HTML, and JavaScript codebase
# Requirements:
- Strong technical and non-technical communication skills
- Experience working with modern HTML / CSS methodologies (SMACSS, OOCSS, BEM, etc)
- Knowledgeable about front end best practices for performance and maintainability
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript fundamentals and able to write clear well-documented code
- Comfortable with Git for version control
- Effective time management when working on multiple projects
